Wellington Catholic DSB Announces Betty Farrell as New Superintendent of Education

The Wellington Catholic District School Board welcomes Betty Farrell as the new Superintendent of Education.

Farrell, a Catholic educator and life-long learner with over 20 years of experience as a teacher, department head, program coordinator and administrator within the Wellington Catholic DSB, will be a welcomed addition to the senior administration team.

“We look forward to Betty’s contributions within our school district in her role as superintendent of education,” said Michael Glazier, Director of Education of the Wellington Catholic DSB. “She is a faith-filled Catholic education leader with a great deal of knowledge and experience in curriculum and student success and an advocate for inclusive education. We welcome Betty to our team and wish her great success as she transitions into this role.”

In the role of Superintendent of Education, Farrell will continue to build relationships within our schools, and with our families, trustees, community partners, parishes, and Ontario Ministry of Education.

Betty has been a valued and respected member of Wellington Catholic for a number of years, always focused on student success and our mission, vision and goals,” said Vikki Dupuis, Chair of the Wellington Catholic DSB. “We are very pleased that she has committed to sharing her gifts and strengths in a new leadership role with our administrative team.”

Farrell’s passion for education is reflected in her teaching experiences and curriculum knowledge as an English teacher, Languages Department Head, Student Success Coordinator, as well as her leadership and managerial skills as a vice-principal and principal. Betty has also served on the Board’s Indigenous Education Advisory Council, Assessment and Evaluation Committee, Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Steering Committee,  and continues to partner with local organizations to benefit youth in our community.  Mrs. Farrell remains active serving the St. Joseph, Guelph Parish as a lector and parishioner. A life-long learner, Betty has led her to encourage others to reach their full potential.

“At the center of all roles in education is the holistic formation of each of God's children. I will ensure the seamless integration of faith, learning, and leadership and work tirelessly to promote student and staff well-being in a community committed to equity and inclusion,” shared Farrell, incoming Superintendent of Education of the Wellington Catholic DSB.

Farrell will serve the Wellington Catholic DSB as Superintendent of Education beginning mid-April.
