We need your 100% support in following these very important procedures to make this safe and successful;

  • Access to the school is only permitted by one parent/guardian and their child(ren) for 10 minute intervals.
  • If you have more than one child, we ask that you only book one interval appointment and you all stay together and go to one class at a time as a group and leave as a group.
  • Many items may be prepacked by teachers, so it won’t take long.
  • If you are having someone else pick up your child’s belongings, please indicate this in the SPECIAL NOTES booking section.
  • Please note that there will be no outdoor supervision and the playground is closed.
  • Plastic bags will be provided to collect student items.
  • Bags and other containers are NOT allowed to be brought from home.
  • Any student medication stored in the main office will also be available for pick-up at the same time in the main office.
  • This appointment is not an interview or a time for prolonged conversations. Please pick-up your student’s belongings in a timely fashion.
  • Any materials belonging to the classroom (ie. textbook) can be returned directly to the classroom.  PLEASE LABEL IT WITH A PIECE OF TAPE/PAPER WITH YOUR CHILD’S FIRST & LAST NAME.
  • Anyone returning Library books, can place them in the large Library Bin that will be available at the entrance.
  • Anyone returning School Equipment (ie. Badminton Racquet, Sports Uniform) can place them in the large Sports Bin that will be available at the front entrance. PLEASE LABEL IT WITH A PIECE OF TAPE/PAPER WITH YOUR CHILD’S FIRST & LAST NAME.
  • Anyone who has borrowed an electronic device, may keep them at home to continue learning.  They will be collected in September.  This includes Grade 8 students going into Grade 9.

All individuals accessing the school must adhere to the following guidelines and safety rules:

  • Complete the self-assessment tool prior to arrival: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/
  • For everyone’s safety, please wear a facemask (clothed masks are acceptable)
  • Everyone will check in at the entrance from the St. James/Church Parking Lot.  There will be a sign-in table with cones to line up.  They will designate 6ft (2m) distancing.  Please be patient as we check you in and allow you to go in.  We are only allowed so many people in the building at once.
  • SANITIZE HANDS UPON ENTRY!
  • Everyone will EXIT at the front doors of the school following the retrieval of their personal items. Please do NOT exit from any other doors as we need to monitor the number of people IN and OUT of the building.
  • SANITIZE HANDS BEFORE EXITING!
  • Do not congregate in the parking lot, gatherings are not acceptable.
  • ***Maintain “physical distancing” of at least 2 metres (6 feet) or more between persons.
  • Avoid touching unnecessary surfaces.
  • Avoid touching your face, nose, eyes or mouth.
  • Bathrooms will NOT be open or available.
  • *Grade 8’s…bring child’s locker combination. Locks may need to be cut off by custodian if parent/guardian/child cannot remember combination.
  • Sneeze and cough into your sleeve. If you use a tissue, discard immediately and sanitize your hands immediately afterward.
  • During designated pick-up days, staff may not be available for online learning.
  • Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity or put to good use with families in need within our school community.

Finally, if there are parents/guardians whose health leaves them vulnerable to COVID-19 or who are frontline workers and cannot make the pick-up date(s), arrangements can be made to have a separate pick-up date. Please make arrangements directly with the Principal/Vice-Principal by email.

PARKING:

Please use either parking areas (staff or church) beside the school, however, please leave the front loop open for emergencies.  Also, consider walking if you can to avoid congestion.

Look for an important email next week which will let parents and students what our plans are for Year-End Celebrations.  This will include our Celebration of Achievement in Academics, Athletics, Arts, Clubs, Leadership and Faith.  We will also highlight our plans to honour our Graduates, the Class of 2020.  Also, we have some plans for how we will say good bye to some precious staff.  And last but certainly not least, we will have the last day of school “Ringing of the Bell Ceremony!”  Stay tuned for details on that…

Finally, in lieu of gifts to staff (especially to prevent the community spread of COVID 19), we suggest you send your educator a virtual message of thanks.  Should you still want to express your gratitude, maybe consider donating to a charity or good cause; Guelph General Hospital, Hospice Wellington, Guelph Food Bank, Welcome Drop-in Centre, Guelph Humane Society, etc.  Our staff would really appreciate that act of kindness.  You could let your teacher know which charity you donated to if you wish.

Wheeeewwww, that’s it for now.  Hope this all makes sense.  It’s been a lot of new learning for all of us, but we have to continue to go ALL-THE-WAY T-O-G-E-T-H-E-R…We love you Wildcats!
